Caterpillar: Distribution Center

Type of Contract – Lump Sum/Design Build

Project Summary

The city of Clayton, Ohio, donated 163 acres of land for this project, and Clayco, Inc., awarded us a $5 million contract for the site prep and infrastructure.  In addition to cement stabilization of 225,000 square yards of sub-grade and excavation of 400,000 cubic yards of soil, we installed 26,000 linear feet of water, sanitary and storm lines.  The completion of the 1.5 million square foot Caterpillar Distribution Center added 600 jobs to the area.  Upon completion of this project the Caterpillar and Clayco team rehired Kelchner to complete another large site project for a new Cat Excavator plant in Victoria, Texas.

  • What they are saying…

Other contractors may be good at the first 90% of the job, but don’t measure up at the final 10%. It’s difficult to get them back, and often there is a lot of cleanup at the end. With Kelchner, I always have access and they follow through on their commitments to clean up.
