Evendale Commons and Wal-Mart

Contract $ 5,000,000

Project SummaryEvendale Commons

Our work on this 80 acre commercial development located in the Cincinnati suburb of Evendale demonstrated the value of planning and pre-work.  The Evendale Commons site offered various excavation challenges.  That’s why contractor Miller-Valentine Construction chose us for the job.

Matt Packer, Miller-Valentine senior project manager, said, “Kelchner agreed to work around the clock. Although we had a late start in the fall due to final closing and lease delays, the 980,000-cubic-yard excavation work was completed ahead of schedule. Despite the many challenges the site contained, we were ahead at every milestone. At their peak, they completed 22,000 yards in one day. Kelchner thought through all the problems ahead of time and had contingency plans in place.”

Evendale CommonsEvendale CommonsThis project also showcased our strengths in earthwork and underground utilities, from clearing to building pad prep to road construction.  We excavated 700,000 cubic yards of material and placed even more embankment material.  We installed almost 20,000 linear feet of water, sewer, and storm pipe, along with numerous gate valves, fire hydrants, manholes, and catch basins.

Our pre-planning combined with our expertise kept this project ahead of schedule and gave other subcontractors early access to start their own work.

  • What they are saying…

The Kelchner crew kept the project moving ahead, even on snow days, when other contractors were forced to stop work by the weather.

Kelchner’s scheduling seems to be more flexible than many contractors. They are better able to meet our demands.
