Whirlpool: Distribution Center

Type of Contract – Lump Sum/Design Build

Project Summary

Whirlpool is the world’s leading manufacturer of major home appliances.  To make way for their new 700,000-square-foot distribution center in Marion, Ohio, we demolished the existing 450,000-square-foot building.  We crushed the old structure’s concrete, which generated 12,000 tons of 304 to use as the sub-base.  We also installed over 13,000 linear feet of water, storm and sanitary sewer lines.

This is the 11th project that real estate developer Pizzuti has taken on for Whirlpool.  According to one of the Pizzuti executives they chose us because:

“(Kelchner has the) solutions to complex problems. (They) also, have the willingness to go above and beyond to maintain schedule and not nickel and dime us for changes.”

  • What they are saying…

I have had two great jobs with Kelchner and our two companies Clayco and Kelchner have just started a new project together in Texas.

I could go on about Kelchner quality, staffing on projects and overall team player spirit.. But to summarize.. The biggest compliment I can pay to any company in my line of work is a simple one.

I would work anywhere anytime with Kelchner on a project.

The word from the CAT execs is that they were ‘stunned’ to see how much was being done to the site when they were there last week. Great job, guys!
